The Fancy Pigeon encompasses hundreds of ornamental breeds descended from the wild rock dove, typically weighing 300-600 grams with a lifespan of 10-15 years. Domesticated for thousands of years, pigeons are intelligent, calm, and surprisingly affectionate, capable of recognizing their keepers and even being trained, making them rewarding and much-underrated companion birds.
