📖 饲养指南
The Royal Pleco (Panaque nigrolineatus) comes from the Orinoco and Amazon basins and reaches about 35 to 43 cm. It belongs to the small group of catfish that actually consume wood, using spoon-shaped teeth to rasp driftwood, with gut microbes helping to process what it scrapes. Large pieces of soft driftwood are therefore not decoration but a dietary requirement, and it produces a lot of fine waste as a result. An adult needs 450 litres or more at 24-28C, pH 6.5 to 7.5 with good flow and strong mechanical filtration. Alongside wood, feed algae wafers, blanched courgette, sweet potato and sinking vegetable pellets, with only small amounts of protein. It is peaceful towards other species but territorial with other large plecos, so keep one per tank. Growth is slow and lifespan is long, easily fifteen years, which means it is a considerably bigger commitment than the small juvenile in a shop suggests. Choose it deliberately, with the tank already big enough.
