Ranging across the western Pacific, the Tomato Clownfish reaches about 12-14 cm, making it larger than the Ocellaris. Females darken to a deep brick red while males stay bright orange-red. They are extremely hardy and long-lived but grow feisty with age. Provide at least a 115-litre (30-gallon) tank at 24-26C, salinity 1.024-1.026, pH 8.1-8.4. Because of their territorial streak, add them last and pair with equally assertive tankmates such as tangs or larger damsels. They naturally host bubble-tip anemones. Feed a meaty diet of mysis, chopped seafood, marine pellets, and some algae-based foods. A single fish or an established pair works best; avoid crowding multiple clownfish species.
