The Green Clown Goby (Gobiodon histrio) is a western Pacific coral goby of about 3 to 3.5 cm. Its olive to emerald body is marked with fine orange or red lines radiating across the head, and like all Gobiodon it has no swim bladder for cruising and instead rests directly on coral branches. It is well suited to a 40 litre or larger nano reef at 24-27C, salinity 1.024-1.026, pH 8.1-8.4, with branching corals or rock to perch on and a covered top. Offer several tiny meals a day of chopped mysis, enriched brine, copepods and micro-pellets. It is peaceful and unbothered by most tankmates, though it should not share a small tank with fast, greedy feeders that will outcompete it at mealtimes. The same honest note applies as for the yellow clown goby: it may nip SPS polyps at its perch site, so keep it with soft corals or LPS if that matters to you.
