The Holland Lop was developed in the Netherlands by crossing the Netherland Dwarf with the French Lop, producing a miniature lop-eared rabbit weighing just 0.7-1.8 kg. It lives seven to twelve years and is one of the most popular pet rabbits in the world, beloved for its compact size, expressive face, and generally sweet, playful personality. Holland Lops should be kept in neutered bonded pairs with a large pen or rabbit-proofed room and daily out-of-cage exercise to stay fit and happy. Their short, dense coat needs only weekly brushing, with more attention during moults. Provide the essential rabbit diet of unlimited grass hay, daily fresh leafy greens, and a small measured pellet portion, avoiding sugary treats that lead to obesity and dental disease. The lopped ears warrant periodic checks for wax and infection, and constant access to hay and chew toys is vital to keep their continuously growing teeth properly worn down.
