The Indian ring-necked parakeet is a strikingly elegant bird and one of the clearest talkers in the parrot world, but it has a reputation for needing consistent effort to stay tame. Ringnecks bond and learn quickly, yet they will drift back toward wildness if handling lapses, and they famously go through a 'bluffing' adolescent phase of nippiness that patient, steady interaction gets you through.
