The Cherub or Pygmy Angelfish (Centropyge argi) hails from the Caribbean and western Atlantic and reaches only about 6-7 cm, the smallest of the angelfish. Deep blue with a bright orange-yellow face, it is hardy, captive-bred with some regularity, and among the least likely dwarf angels to bother corals. Keep in a 75-litre (20-gallon) or larger reef tank with plenty of live rock caves, at 24-26C, salinity 1.024-1.026, pH 8.1-8.4. Feed a varied diet of marine algae, spirulina, mysis, and small pellets. Despite its size it is feisty and territorial, so add it after calmer fish and provide ample hiding spaces. It is an excellent, generally reef-safe choice for nano and mid-size reef aquariums.
