The Havana Brown is a rare, richly chocolate-coloured cat with vivid green eyes and an endearing habit of investigating the world with its paws, reaching out to touch and tap at anything that interests it — including your face at dawn. Descended from Siamese lines, it is smart, curious and deeply people-oriented, forming strong bonds and preferring to be involved in whatever its family is doing. It is affectionate and moderately talkative, and it does not like to be left alone for long, so it appreciates company or a feline friend. The short, glossy coat is very low-maintenance, needing only an occasional brush or a rub with a soft cloth to shine. Give the Havana interactive play and plenty of attention and it makes a devoted, engaging companion. Because it is a rare breed with a small gene pool, careful breeding matters. From its Siamese heritage it can be prone to dental and gum disease and occasional respiratory issues, so maintain a good dental routine, keep the cat at a healthy weight, provide fresh water, and keep up annual vet checks.
