Native to the reefs of the Indo-Pacific, the Ocellaris Clownfish reaches about 7-8 cm and can live well over a decade in a healthy tank. Tank-bred specimens are hardy, disease-resistant, and far easier to keep than wild-caught fish. They are protandrous hermaphrodites: the largest fish becomes female. A single or bonded pair thrives in a 75-litre (20-gallon) or larger reef aquarium at 24-26C, salinity 1.024-1.026, and pH 8.1-8.4. Feed a varied diet of marine pellets, frozen mysis, and enriched brine shrimp twice daily. They do not require an anemone but may host in one or a soft coral. Peaceful with most tankmates, though a pair can defend a small territory.
