The Six Line Wrasse comes from Indo-Pacific reefs and reaches only about 7-8 cm. Its orange body is ruled by six brilliant blue horizontal lines, with a small false eyespot near the tail. It is hardy, inexpensive, and constantly active, weaving through rockwork all day and sleeping in a mucus cocoon at night. A 115-litre reef tank with abundant live rock suits it, at 24-26C, salinity 1.024-1.026, pH 8.1-8.4. It is reef-safe and helps control pyramidellid snails, flatworms, and bristleworms. Feed mysis, marine pellets, and finely chopped seafood. Note that it grows bolder and can bully peaceful newcomers with age, so add it later and pair it with fish that can hold their own.
