Descended from the jungle cat, the Chausie is a big, powerful, deeply people-focused breed that hates being alone. It thrives with an active family, ideally alongside another confident cat, and will follow its humans from room to room narrating the day. These athletes need real outlets: high perches, sturdy climbing furniture, fetch, food puzzles and long play sessions before they will settle. A single bored Chausie can dismantle a living room, so channel that drive into training and rotating toys rather than trying to suppress it. Grooming is minimal — a quick weekly brush keeps the short coat glossy. The main watch-points are dental health and a sensitive digestive tract; many Chausies do best on high-protein, grain-light diets, and any recurring stomach upset or food reaction is worth discussing with your vet.
