๐Ÿ“– Care guide

The KuneKune originated in New Zealand, where it was kept by the Maori people; its name means 'fat and round' in Maori. These friendly pigs weigh 60-180 kg, live 15-20 years, and are distinguished by short upturned snouts and, often, a pair of wattles called piri piri hanging from the lower jaw. Unusually among pigs, KuneKunes are true grazers that thrive largely on grass, rooting far less than other breeds and doing minimal pasture damage. They are calm, affectionate, and excellent with families. Provide a dry, insulated shelter, shade, and access to a wallow, along with secure fencing. Feed a measured ration of pasture, hay, and pig pellets to prevent obesity, which stresses their joints. Fresh water, hoof and tusk trims, shade for their skin, and routine deworming keep KuneKunes healthy and content.
