The Mekong Bobtail is a naturally short-tailed, colour-pointed cat from the lands around the Mekong River, once given as royal gifts in Southeast Asia. Each kinked, curved tail is individual, and the breed pairs that quirk with a devoted, dog-like loyalty to its chosen people. These cats are intelligent, gently active and genuinely companionable. They enjoy fetch, follow their humans from room to room, and get along well with children and other animals. Sociable by nature, they prefer not to be left alone all day and appreciate interactive play and a warm lap. The short, silky coat has almost no undercoat and needs little more than an occasional brush. The Mekong Bobtail is a robust, long-lived natural breed; sensible husbandry focuses on dental hygiene, weight control and routine checks for age-related kidney health.
