๐Ÿ“– Care guide

Norman's Lampeye (Poropanchax normani) comes from West and Central Africa, from Senegal through Nigeria to Cameroon and Chad, and reaches about 3.5 to 4 cm. The glowing blue-white patch on the upper iris gives the group its name; it is a light-reflecting structure, not a light source, and it is most striking when the fish is lit from the front. Unusually for a killifish it is a shoaling species and should be kept in a group of ten or more, in a planted tank of 45 litres or more at 23-27C with a pH of 6.0 to 7.5 and soft to medium water, gentle flow, dark substrate and floating plants for shade. A covered top is still necessary. Its mouth is small, so feed fine flake, crushed micro-pellets, live and frozen baby brine, daphnia, cyclops and microworms. It is peaceful and shrimp safe with adults, and it makes an excellent contrast fish for a nano community, though it is easily bullied by anything larger and pushier.
