Angora rabbits carry one of the oldest coat mutations known, kept in Ankara (Angora) for centuries before reaching European courts in the 18th century; the English Angora is the smallest and fluffiest variety at 2–3.5 kg, with wool covering even the face and ears. Lifespan is 7–12 years. Be honest about the commitment: the coat needs grooming sessions several times a week, blowing or brushing to the skin, and a full harvest (shearing or plucking of released wool) roughly every 90 days — the wool genuinely spins into some of the warmest yarn in the world. Skipped grooming means felted mats and life-threatening wool-block, since a grooming rabbit swallows its own coat. Keep housing immaculate and dry (wool wicks everything), never bathe — wet angora wool felts on the animal — and feed extra-high-fiber: unlimited hay plus papaya or pineapple enzyme treats that folk-tradition credits with moving wool through the gut (the real fix is fiber and hydration). A calm, patient rabbit best suited to experienced, routine-loving owners.
