📖 Care guide

The Polish rabbit is a very small show breed — despite the name it was refined in England — weighing only 0.9-1.6 kg, with a short compact body, short upright ears and large bright eyes. It is often mistaken for the Netherland Dwarf, but the Polish has a slightly longer face and no true dwarf gene, and it commonly lives 8-12 years. Unlike some tiny high-strung breeds, Polish rabbits are known for a gentle, docile and people-oriented temperament, which has made them a longtime favourite in the show ring and as calm companions. Their short flyback coat is very easy to care for, needing only occasional brushing. Feed unlimited grass hay, a daily handful of leafy greens and a strictly measured teaspoon-scale pellet ration, since small rabbits gain weight easily and fruit should be a rare treat. Provide a large pen or free-roam space, not a tiny cage, with a litter box, hides and chew-safe surroundings, and ideally a bonded partner. Their compact skull makes dental malocclusion the main health watch-point, so provide constant chew material and have the incisors checked regularly.
