The RagaMuffin is a close cousin of the Ragdoll, a large, teddy-bear cat with rabbit-soft fur and one of the sweetest, most docile temperaments you will find. Affectionate, patient and endlessly tolerant, it goes limp for a cuddle, greets everyone as a friend and puts up with children and other pets like a saint — an ideal family companion that wants to be with its people and dislikes being left alone for long. Its trusting nature means it should always live safely indoors. Gentle rather than athletic, it still enjoys easy play and a sturdy cat tree, and it matures slowly, reaching full size and coat over three to four years. The silky, low-matting coat needs brushing two or three times a week to stay tangle-free. From its Ragdoll heritage the breed's main health watch-point is hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, so buy from a breeder who DNA-tests and cardiac-screens. Guard against the weight gain this laid-back, food-loving cat is prone to, keep up dental care, and provide plenty of water to support kidney and urinary health.
