Their bulletproof constitution and inquisitive personality make them rewarding keepers, though their strong feeding response demands respect at meal times. Provide a secure 75-115 liter enclosure with a warm side of 28-30C and a cool retreat in the low 20s, plus at least two hides. Humidity around 40-50% works well. Because kingsnakes are cannibalistic, always house them individually. Offer a single frozen-thawed rodent every one to two weeks, using tongs to avoid feeding-response bites. They tolerate regular handling once acclimated, becoming calmer with routine interaction over time.
