Jackson's chameleons come from cool, humid East African highlands, so unlike most chameleons they need moderate temperatures — a basking spot of only 24–28°C with a cool nighttime drop — inside a tall, heavily planted, well-ventilated screen enclosure. Provide UVB and humidity of 60–80% through frequent misting and a dripper, since they too drink only moving water droplets. Feed gut-loaded, calcium-dusted insects such as crickets, roaches and silkworms daily for youngsters and every other day for adults, keeping vitamin-D and calcium supplementation carefully balanced to protect these delicate lizards from bone disease. Jackson's are among the calmer chameleons but remain an observation species that dislikes handling; interact through husbandry and admire the triceratops horns from close by. A distinctive feature is live birth — females carry and deliver fully formed young — which makes reproductive issues like egg or fetal binding a real risk if a female is stressed or poorly fed. Watch also for respiratory infection if kept too warm and stagnant, and metabolic bone disease without proper UVB and calcium.
