The English Angora is the smallest of the Angora wool breeds, developed for its fine, soft fibre and distinctive facial furnishings that nearly hide its features. Weighing 2.0-3.5 kg and living seven to twelve years, it is gentle and calm, a temperament that suits the extensive handling its grooming requires. Its wool has long been spun into luxury yarn. This breed is only for owners committed to intensive coat care: the dense wool must be brushed thoroughly several times a week, and ideally daily, to prevent severe matting and to reduce ingested fibre, which readily causes life-threatening wool block and gut stasis. Regular clipping every few months keeps the coat manageable. Standard rabbit care otherwise applies: keep them in bonded pairs with space to exercise, feed unlimited grass hay plus leafy greens and a measured pellet ration, and ensure ample fibre intake. Keep the coat clean and dry, and check for mats around the rear and feet frequently.
