The Minuet, once called the Napoleon, combines the short legs of the Munchkin with the round face and plush coat of the Persian group, producing a sweet, sturdy, teddy-bear cat. It is gentle, affectionate and sociable, happy in busy family homes and good with children and other pets. Despite the short legs, Minuets are playful and reasonably active, enjoying toys and gentle games, though they are more ground-based than acrobatic. Their calm, people-loving nature means they crave company and do best where they are not left alone for long periods. Coat length varies from short to semi-long; longer coats need combing several times a week to prevent mats, while the flatter faces of some lines call for occasional eye cleaning. Watch for patellar and mobility issues linked to the short legs, screen for the polycystic kidney disease of Persian ancestry, and keep up regular dental care.
