๐Ÿ“– Care guide

Native to the forested riverbanks of Southeast Asia and southern China, the Chinese water dragon reaches 60-90 cm, most of it tail, and lives 10-15 years. It is semi-arboreal and semi-aquatic, spending time basking on branches above water and leaping in to swim or escape. Nervous individuals may rub their snouts raw on glass, so visual barriers and space matter. Provide a tall, planted enclosure of at least 120x60x120 cm with sturdy branches, dense foliage, and a large water area for soaking and swimming. Offer a basking spot of 32-35 C, a strong UVB source, and high humidity of 60-80% maintained by misting or a fogger. Feed a varied diet of gut-loaded insects such as crickets, roaches, and worms, plus occasional pinkies and some leafy greens. Frequent calm handling reduces skittishness over time.
