The Colorpoint Shorthair shares the Siamese body, blue eyes and personality but comes in a rainbow of point colours beyond the classic four. Intensely people-oriented, it forms an almost dog-like bond and will comment on everything in a loud, expressive voice. These are clever, energetic cats that need mental and physical stimulation to stay happy. Interactive toys, learning tricks, food puzzles and a companion for the hours you are away all help; a bored, lonely Colorpoint can become anxious or destructive. The fine, close-lying coat is wash-and-go — a weekly stroke with a rubber brush is plenty. Like their Siamese relatives, they can be prone to dental disease, respiratory sensitivity, heart disease and kidney issues, so prioritise annual vet checks, good dental hygiene and a high-quality diet throughout their long lives.
