The glowlight danio, sometimes called Danio choprae, is a small, brilliantly colored shoaling fish from the streams of northern Myanmar, distinguished by a copper-gold body accented with iridescent bars of orange and turquoise. It stays around an inch and a quarter and belongs in a group of at least eight, where the shoal's collective color and constant motion create a mesmerizing display. They prefer slightly cooler, well-oxygenated water around 73-79F with gentle current that mimics their native flowing streams, and a planted tank with open swimming space lets them dash and dart naturally. Peaceful and active, they suit community tanks with other small, calm fish, though very timid tankmates may find their energy overwhelming. Feed a varied diet of micro pellets, crushed flake, and small frozen or live foods to maintain their vivid coloration, and keep a lid on the tank as these lively little danios can jump.
