๐ Care guide
The Lawnmower Blenny (Salarias fasciatus), also called the Jeweled Rockskipper, comes from the Indo-Pacific and reaches about 12-13 cm. Mottled brown and cryptic, it is a dedicated algae grazer with comb-like teeth built for scraping film and hair algae from rock and glass. House in a 115-litre (30-gallon) or larger reef tank with plenty of live rock and established algae growth, at 24-26C, salinity 1.024-1.026, pH 8.1-8.4. Because it depends on algae, tanks that are too clean must be supplemented with dried nori and herbivore preparations to prevent it from wasting away. It is reef-safe and peaceful but may squabble with other blennies or bottom-dwellers. One per tank is the safe rule.
