๐ Care guide
Found around Papua New Guinea, the Solomon Islands, and northern Australia, the True Percula grows to roughly 8 cm and is exceptionally long-lived, often reaching 15 years. It is distinguished from the Ocellaris by heavier black margins and ten dorsal spines instead of eleven. House a pair in a stable 75-litre reef tank at 24-26C, salinity 1.024-1.026, pH 8.1-8.4. Percula are slightly slower-moving and shyer than Ocellaris, so avoid boisterous tankmates. Offer frozen mysis, marine pellets, and vitamin-enriched foods two to three times daily. They readily host bubble-tip anemones or leather corals but do not need one. Choose captive-bred stock for the best hardiness and color.
