๐Ÿ“– Care guide

The Rosy Danio (Danio roseus) comes from streams and rivers in the Mekong basin of northern Thailand and Laos and reaches about 4 to 5 cm. Its body is silvery with a rose-pink flush on the flanks and belly that intensifies in mature males, along with a faint blue-grey lateral stripe. It was only described in 2000 and is still less common in shops than the zebra danio. A group of eight or more suits a tank of 75 litres or more at 20-25C with a pH of 6.0 to 7.5 and soft to medium water with moderate flow. Like most danios it prefers slightly cooler water and does not need a warm tropical setting. Cover the tank because it jumps. Feed flake, micro-pellets and frozen or live daphnia, cyclops and baby brine. It is hardy, undemanding and peaceful, making it a good alternative for anyone who wants danio energy in a smaller and softer-coloured package than the giant danio provides.
