📖 Care guide

Carpet pythons are strong semi-arboreal climbers that need a large enclosure — at least 1.2–1.8 m for adults — furnished with thick branches and shelves as well as floor hides. Provide a basking spot of 31–33°C, an ambient gradient to 25°C, and moderate humidity around 50–60% with a large water bowl. Feed rats sized to the snake's girth every 7–10 days as juveniles and every 2–3 weeks as adults. Hatchlings can be nippy and have a keen feeding response, so always use tongs; adults calm markedly with routine, consistent handling once they are established. Expect a lively youngster that matures into a manageable, curious adult; support the body fully and give it something to climb during handling. Keep the setup well ventilated to prevent respiratory infection, keep substrate dry to avoid scale rot, and monitor weight since a bored, overfed carpet python will happily become obese. With good care they easily reach 20–30 years.
