Gargoyle geckos are arboreal and do beautifully in a planted 45×45×60 cm vertical terrarium with cork branches and foliage to climb and hide among. They thrive at ordinary room temperatures of 22–26°C, so most homes need no extra heat, and prefer humidity of 50–70% from a nightly light misting that dries out during the day. The great convenience of this species is diet: a complete powdered crested-gecko-style fruit diet mixed with water forms the staple, offered in a small dish every other day, supplemented occasionally with dusted insects for extra protein. No live-feeding is strictly necessary, which makes them wonderfully low-effort. Handle briefly and low over a soft surface, since like many geckos they can drop their tail when frightened — though gargoyles regrow theirs. Support the body and let them hop between hands. Watch for metabolic bone disease if the diet lacks calcium, obesity from overfeeding, and shedding or skin problems if humidity swings too far in either direction.
