The Singapura is the smallest of the pedigree cats, a tiny sepia-ticked package with enormous eyes and ears and a personality far bigger than its body. Curious, playful and relentlessly social, it climbs into everything, involves itself in every task, and stays kitten-like and people-oriented for life — a 'pesky little person' that wants to be part of the action and does not enjoy being left alone. Being small and fine-coated, it also loves warmth and cozy laps. Give a Singapura interactive play, climbing space and plenty of company. The short, close coat is beautifully easy, needing only an occasional brush. The breed comes from a small gene pool, so buying carefully matters: reputable breeders DNA-test for pyruvate kinase deficiency, which is present in the line, and are mindful of the reduced diversity. Keep up the usual feline care — a good diet, weight management, dental hygiene, fresh water and yearly check-ups — and protect this heat-loving little cat from cold.
