๐ Care guide
Allard's Clownfish (Amphiprion allardi) comes from the western Indian Ocean along the East African coast, from Kenya and Tanzania south to South Africa, and reaches about 13 to 15 cm. Adults are dark brown to black with two clean white bars, orange to yellow fins and a pale yellow tail. It hosts several anemone species in the wild but does not require one in an aquarium. Because of its adult size and temper, give a pair at least 200 litres at 24-27C, salinity 1.024-1.026, pH 8.1-8.4, with a substantial rock structure to claim. It is an eager, unfussy eater on mysis, enriched brine, marine pellets and algae foods. Be honest with yourself about the aggression: this is one of the pushier clownfish, comparable to a Clarkii, and a settled pair will harass small or shy fish added later. Add it late in the stocking order, keep only one pair, and avoid mixing it with any other clownfish species.
