๐ Care guide
Hyla cinerea is a small arboreal frog from the southeastern United States, common around ponds and marshes. Reaching about 4-6 cm, it lives around 5-8 years and is a hardy, adaptable species that makes an excellent, inexpensive beginner tree frog, though males are enthusiastically loud at night during breeding season. House one or a small group in a tall, planted terrarium with branches and broad leaves for climbing and sleeping, kept at 22-28C by day with a night drop and moderate humidity around 60-80 percent, plus a shallow water dish of dechlorinated water. Feed appropriately sized crickets and other insects at night, dusted with calcium and vitamin supplements to prevent metabolic bone disease. Provide good ventilation to avoid stagnant, over-humid air. As with all frogs, their absorbent skin means handling should be brief, infrequent, and only with clean, wet hands. They are personable, active after dark, and forgiving of minor husbandry lapses.
