๐Ÿ“– Care guide

The Bengal Danio (Devario devario) comes from rivers across India, Bangladesh, Nepal and Pakistan and reaches about 8 to 10 cm. It is deeper-bodied than most danios, silver with a blue-green sheen and several dark blue stripes that converge toward the caudal peduncle. It is a genuine river fish adapted to current. Give a group of six or more a tank of 200 litres or more with real swimming length, at 18-26C with a pH of 6.5 to 7.8, brisk flow and strong oxygenation. It tolerates cooler water well and does not require tropical heating in most homes. Cover the tank, as it is a powerful jumper. Feed flake, pellets and regular frozen or live daphnia, bloodworm and brine shrimp. It is very hardy and peaceful with fish of similar size, but its speed and constant motion make it unsuitable for a tank of shy or slow species, and it should not be kept with anything small enough to fit in its mouth.
