๐Ÿ“– Care guide

The Emerald Corydoras (Corydoras splendens, long known as Brochis splendens) comes from the western Amazon and reaches about 7 to 9 cm, noticeably larger and deeper-bodied than most corydoras and with more rays in the dorsal fin. Its metallic green sheen shifts to gold and bronze depending on the angle of the light. A group of six or more needs 120 litres or more at 22-27C, pH 6.0 to 7.5, over soft sand with driftwood and shade. Feed sinking wafers, frozen bloodworm, mysis and brine shrimp; it takes larger pieces than small corys and needs a genuine share of the food rather than leftovers. It is peaceful and hardy, tolerates a broad range of conditions, and is among the longest-lived corydoras, commonly reaching ten years and sometimes more. Its size makes it a good bottom-dweller for a community with medium fish such as angelfish or larger tetras, where small corys would be at risk.
