๐ Care guide
Lissachatina (Achatina) fulica originates in East Africa and is one of the largest land snails, its shell reaching 15-20 cm. These gentle hermaphrodites live around 5-10 years and are prolific breeders, capable of laying hundreds of eggs. Important: they are a serious agricultural pest and are illegal to keep or import in the United States and some other regions, so always check local law first. House them in a humid terrarium at 20-28C with 75-90 percent humidity and several centimetres of moist, chemical-free substrate for burrowing and egg-laying. Provide constant calcium via a cuttlebone to build and maintain the shell, and mist daily. Feed a varied diet of leafy greens, cucumber, and vegetables, avoiding anything salty or citrus. Handle gently with damp hands, supporting the shell and never pulling the snail from a surface. Manage breeding responsibly, since a single pair produces overwhelming numbers of offspring.
