๐Ÿ“– Care guide

Hierodula membranacea is a big, hardy mantis native to South and Southeast Asia, with adult females reaching 8-10 cm. Like all mantises its life is short, generally under a year total, with a few months as an impressive adult. Its size, boldness, and forgiving nature make it one of the best starter mantises. House each mantis alone, as they are ruthless cannibals, in a vertical enclosure at least three times its body length tall to allow safe hanging molts. Keep 24-28C with moderate humidity around 60 percent, misting lightly, and provide mesh or twigs to grip. Feed flies, crickets, and roaches roughly every day or two, adjusting to appetite. The most critical risk is a failed molt from insufficient height or humidity, which is often fatal. Handling is possible and generally calm, but always support the body and let the mantis walk rather than gripping it.
